The bump lift is where mom places the center of the fabric on the top of her bump. She then holds the fabric with one hand and pinching the edge of the fabric with her fingers and bringing that to her other hand to hold. Mom goes out a second arm length and pinches. The hand on her chest lets go. With the extended hand the fabric is taken around her back and over her opposite shoulder bringing the tail to the front. Continued with next photo.
This is repeated on the opposite side so that there is fabric across the belly and the tails cross on her back as the tails go over the opposite shoulder from the side the fabric came from. Mom then finds the colour of the edge on the lower part of her belly. She tightens this edge so she can start to feel the weight of her baby in her belly being lifted by the fabric. Both edges are tightened. Mom can hold the fabric and continue to gently lift her belly.
draping the fabric round a head board on the bed, or a large stable object, and looping the fabric around moms knees with the tails of the fabric to the outside so mom can pull on it and lift her knees this can really help mom during delivery especially in a birth pool or when mom requires to be on her back during labour and delivery. Mom can pull into her contractions and really push and pull and bear down to make each contraction the most effective possible.
