West 4th Wraps allow for you to wear your baby in a safe and secure manner while still giving you the freedom to use your hands.  The unique nature of the hand woven material allows for just the right amount of slide and grip to allow for easy and secure tying.  West 4th Wraps allows you to be close you’re your baby and places your baby where they should be … next to your heart.  You will find in no time flat your baby will be relaxed and soon to fall asleep on your chest. 

 

West 4th Wraps are not just for mom but also for dad and grandparents, aunts and uncles, and anyone who is a caregiver.  West 4th Wraps grow with your child as he or she grow from new born to the toddler stage. There is no need for another carrier, unless of course you need a different colour!

 

West 4th Wraps allow for almost effortless wearing by the parent or caregiver.  The wrap, when properly tied, brings your baby’s weight next to you allowing for comfortable and ergonomic wearing.  West 4th Wraps are soft yet strong eliminating pinch points on you or your baby.  You may quickly find that you can wear your little one all day long but please remember to take breaks when you are tired.  Taking breaks will also give your little one the freedom to explore the world on their own. 

 

Tying your wrap may take a little practice for the first few days.  When you first start tying try to find a friend, your spouse, a family member, or better yet a baby wearing educator to help spot and guide you through your first days of baby wearing.  After no time at all you will find that tying and wearing your baby is second nature and will be as easy as tying your shoe laces.  We hope that you enjoy your West 4th Wrap as much as we did creating it just for you and your little one.  Each West 4th Wrap is woven with love just for you.

 

West 4th Wraps are created and woven by hand.  We are dedicated to presevering and sharing the art of hand weaving through creating hand woven baby wraps for you to use every day.

 

Each wrap has been carefully hand crafted on a floor loom.  The technology we use to weave is very old and basically has not changed in thousands of years.  Nancy, The Weaver and Designer,  starts by designing the warp and then choosing the suitable weft.  Nancy’s passion is to “paint with thread”.  Nancy’s unique technique is always evolving and creates one of a kind designs.  The second step is to make the warp ensuring the design is pain staking followed.  Some times Nancy has a concept  and the design of the warp is created at the same time as the warp itself.  It is not uncommon for a beautiful sunset to inspire us to run to the warping stand, grab the yarn, and start painting what we see on the horizon. Once the warp is made it is then moved to the loom for threading to start.  Each thread is placed through a heddle and then through the reed.  Once the loom is threaded the warp is tied onto the cloth beam, tensioned, and then the warp is ready for weaving.
